Thunder

Hello Everyone!

My name is Thunder. As you can see from my picture, retirement is great! I was adopted on May 9, 1998. I will always remember that weekend because we went to a place called Savannah for a Pet Fair. It was really cool because I got to meet a lot of nice people and they petted me and told me how cute I am -- even though they kept whispering about "what was wrong". You see, I was pretty stressed out about this thing they called retirement. I had something called a rash -- and it was so itchy that I had pulled out most of my hair. Looking back at a picture from when I first retired, I did look pretty funny.

So anyway, I wasn't sure what I was supposed to do or how I was supposed to act in this retirement thing and...these new people -- who were they??? But, my first Mom and Dad, Jackie and Paul were really nice to me. They told me how well behaved I was and took really good care of me. Then one weekend, Jackie told me we were going to the beach. Then some other people I had only met one time picked me up and away we went. Next thing I knew I was at this weird place. I had never seen anything like it before - there was a lot of sand and water and it was s-o-o-o-o fun. I also stayed in a hotel that night with Jackie, Max, Peanut and Shelley and John -- pretty cool 'huh?!? I don't think we were supposed to be there but we sneaked in. Since we were all so quiet (except Jackie, Shelley and John (ha ha), nobody knew we were there. I think it was that night I decided this retirement thing was going OK. But then, Jackie left me with these other people, Shelley and John. We spent the whole day in Savannah and had a picnic at Forsyth Park (see how cute I look in front of the fountain).

Later that night after being in the car f-o-r-e-v-e-r we went to this place that I now call home. When we got there, I found out that I have two sisters named Soo Ling and Amelia (they don't look like me though, because they're these funny looking things Mom calls cats). I also have my own bed and a couch that I sleep on when nobody is home. After a while I decided that this retirement thing was pretty good. All I have to do is eat and sleep and go for walks in this big park next to my house. When Mom took me to this place to run, I just stood there and stared at her. I guess she forgot that I had retired. Well, she doesn't take me there anymore. Except for that Amelia cat flirting with me all the time, my life is very good.

Everywhere my Mom takes me, people stop her and ask if I'm always this well behaved. She tells them that I am. She is very proud of me. Last month I went to the beach again -- this time at my grandparents house in Florida. The more I think about it...I really LOVE retirement and my family is great, too.

If you ever come to Atlanta, please call me and we can go out and play in the park!
