Ginger
My
name is Ginger and no, I am not a greyhound but Jackie helped save my
life.
In May 2007, my family and I were on our way home to Savannah from Memphis when we had a really bad car accident. It was really scary and I got thrown out of the car as it rolled over. We were about 30 miles east of Macon.
My family was all OK, but I was so scared that I ran into the woods and didn't come back when my Daddy was calling for me. I know my family didn't want to leave me behind, but they had to go when the State Trooper was ready to take them to the hotel. I spent a very long, lonely and scary night in the woods there off the interstate. I got a lot of scratches and bug bites and I was very confused.
When
my Mommy called her mom, Grandma immediately hopped online to see if she
could find anyway to help my Mommy find me and get me back.
Grandma found a few phone numbers for dog rescue groups in Macon, GA and
out of the blue, she called Jackie. Jackie then called Mommy and
said that they would come and try to help find me. What Jackie
didn't tell Mommy is that if they didn't find me, I could be in a lot of
trouble because that area still has a lot of dog fighting. If I
wasn't shot on sight, it would be a good possibility that I would
be taken and used as a bait dog since I am an American Bulldog/Boxer
mix.
By the time morning came around, I just knew that my family would come back if they could so I went and waited where the car had come to rest. Sure enough, early in the morning, a van pulled over to the side of the road and stopped. A very nice lady came and put a collar and leash on me and led me to her car. When I got to the car, Paul even let me have his breakfast. Egg McMuffin - YUM!
I
was so happy when we got back to the hotel and I got to see Mommy, Daddy
and my brothers Brodie and Mason. As you can tell from the
pictures, I love taking naps with my brothers. Jackie and Paul
even took Daddy back to Macon with them so he could pick up the rental
car so we could all get back home to Savannah.
My grandma made this really nice picture as a thank you to Jackie and Paul.
